John Schreurs is the CEO at Strategic America in West Des Moines, Iowa.

In addition to setting and administering corporate operations for the agency, John is actively involved with development of new sales promotions and media strategies for several regional and national clients. His insights and solutions mindset of integrating sales, operations, finance and marketing is strategic and provides results and long-term value for SA clients. Before joining Strategic America in 1983, John successfully developed his skills as sales manager at KFMW-FM, Waterloo, for five years, and gained broad marketing experience with the Muscatine, Iowa, Chamber of Commerce. Along with his responsibilities at SA, John serves on the board of directors of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry, the Executive Committee for Employee and Family Resources and is active in other community and professional organizations.

Adam Lackey is the Strategic Communications Director at Two Rivers Marketing in Des Moines, IA.

Adam helps companies communicate to their key audiences, be they customers, employees, the media, shareholders, dealers, or just someone who needs to hear what his clients have to say. He has done this for the past 15 years at agencies and on the client side for companies in the financial services, agricultural, retail, governmental, manufacturing and construction industries. He graduated from Drake University, where he majored in public relations and English. He lives in Des Moines with his wife Victoria and their five-year-old twins, George and Zelda. 

Tara Deering-Hansen is vice president of marketing and communications at the Iowa Bankers Association in Johnston, Iowa.

Before joining the Iowa Bankers, she was principal of a Des Moines public relations firm specializing in public relations, corporate and strategic communications, and crisis consulting. From 2014-2017, she was group vice president of communications at Hy-Vee, Inc., where she oversaw external and internal communications for its 250 stores and 85,000 employees located across eight states. At Hy-Vee, Tara was responsible for the company’s strategic communication planning, development and execution of public relations campaigns, and oversight of media relations and crisis management. While there, her public relations efforts yielded Hy-Vee frequent national media attention. And in 2015, she was recognized for her work in the grocery industry with Progressive Grocer’s Top Women in Grocery Rising Star Award and the Hy-Vee Chairman’s Leadership Above & Beyond Award.

Prior to joining Hy-Vee, Tara held the titles of corporate communications manager at Iowa Student Loan and Kum & Go, and public relations specialist at Two Rivers Marketing. Earlier in her career, she was a reporter for the Chicago Tribune, Des Moines Register and Omaha World-Herald.

Tara graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication and was the 1998-99 editor-in-chief of the Iowa State Daily. She has formerly served as an adjunct instructor in public relations at Drake University. Currently, she serves on the ISU Greenlee School of Journalism’s Advisory Council, the board of directors of Bravo Greater Des Moines, and is a member of the Public Relations Society of America Central Iowa Chapter and the American Marketing Association Iowa Chapter. She resides in Clive, Iowa, with her husband, Bruce, and their three daughters.

Adam Ferry is a Designer at Now Now, in Des Moines, IA.

Established in 2015, Now Now is an independent digital agency located in Des Moines. They build meaningful brand experiences through thoughtful design, code and content. At this agency, Adam’s role will bolster the identity/branding development and physical brand touch points for clients. Notable clients include St. Kilda and Hinterland Music Festival.

Prior to Now Now, Adam was lead designer at Eight Seven Central. While in this role, his primary focus was on identity and branding through the perspective of empathy and adaptability.

Over his design career of 15 years, he has established relationships with influential architects, developers, brewers/distillers, creatives, restaurants/cafes, distributors, music directors, craftsmen, and manufacturers.

Recent awards include: ADAI - Best of Show, AAF Des Moines - Best of Show, AAF District 9 - Best of Design Category, AAF National - Silver Award, HOW Magazine - Marketing & Promotion Award, HOW Magazine - International Design Award, HOW Magazine - Logo Design Award.
